Default New (to me) LR3 and a few ?'s

Last week I picked up a 1 owner '06 LR3 HSE. It's my 1st Land Rover. We've wanted an LR4 for a while but it never panned out for one reason or another. Almost got one in 2010 when they 1st came out but ended up w/ an MDX. Again in 2012 but was comparison shopping w/ the MB ML and fell in love w/ the diesel so ended up w/ a BlueTec. Revisited LR last December and almost pulled the trigger but MB made an offer I couldn't refuse. Then this past summer, w/ 2 kids now, we wanted a 3-row suv as a 3rd car for those times when the in-laws or friends are w/ us. Spent 4 months looking for a LX470 or Land Cruiser but couldn't find one with a decent service history or w/o the frame rusted out. A Land Rover specialist w/ mostly D2's near me popped up w/ this LR3. I planned on installing a rear DVD for the kids, this already had dual screens. I crawled underneath to check the sway bar bushings and control arms, he had already replaced them. Also had just done tie rods and the air compressor. Vehicle even has the HD pkg. Truck has 98k on it and he said he was going to do the 105K service before I took delivery. I offered full asking and picked it up a few days later. Going back and forth between the LR3 and my BMW, it's 2 extremes and I'm loving it. Already tinted the front 2 windows to match the rears. Planning on adding an inverter and on board air compressor.

I've been reading and searching on here and the disco3 uk site but still have a few questions:

1) I know that not using genuine LR bulbs can sometimes cause false transmission faults, but would that also apply to the front fogs and interior lights as well? Asking as I wanted to get HID's in the fogs to match the headlights and change the interior bulbs to LED's.

2) I've poured over quite a few threads but can anyone recommend a single bluetooth adapter for streaming music? Don't really want one that uses an FM transmitter. Any preference on the Grom unit, WaveJamr, Homespot NFC, etc?

3) Also looking to do a backup camera. I saw the GVIF unit but wanted something simpler. Has anyone done one of the cameras that replaces a license plate light and a small 3" screen attached to the windshield? I'm thinking of putting it just above the rearview mirror.

4) I know tires are an objective topic. I have the 19" wheels. It came with Antares Comfort A5 which I never heard of (budget tire?). I am a firm believer in snow tires on all my vehicles. I've ran Blizzaks on the MDX, MB ML, MB GLE, BMW, and Honda Accord. So awd, rwd, and fwd. I'll admit, I don't plan on doing any real wheelin. Definitely a few beach days in the summer. Maybe a light trail if I can find something. But don't know if I should go to my usual Blizzak DM-V1 that I use on my suv's? Or is there a highly recommended M&S tire that does well in the snow, stopping in the freezing cold/ice, and also decent on sand?

Looking forward to becoming part of the community here!

1) haven't read of anyone putting a hid kit in the fogs. For that I would say blaze the trail and let us know how it works.

2) Grom has been making adapters for land rovers going back to the D2 years I would go with them if they offer what you are after.

3) saw someone say they were going to do it never did see the outcome.

4) Blizzaks would be fine

The brake light bulbs are the ones u need to get from dealer, wrong resistance and the computer thinks you have no brakes and throws a fit

1) Many people here (including me) have changed fog lights to match the color temp of the HIDs. Also, many have changed interior lights to LEDs... especially in the UK with no ill effects. I even have non-LR bulbs in my tail lights with no issues, while I've heard about this "issue", I have no idea what its origin is. :P

2) I like the Homespot NFC because it doesn't have phone functionality to it won't jack up your connection to the Land Rover bluetooth phone stuff. It also doesn't have a battery, so it will shut off when your car shuts off and turn on when your car turns on automatically. Finally, it's small enough to fit in the little pocked below the aux jack in the center console. For me, it's perfect... I forget it's even there and it's like I had bluetooth functionality integrated into the car originally.

4) For a good all-around tire that should do everything you want, I would look at the KO2s. I love mine. They are supposed to be great in the snow, but I'll admit that I got them over this past summer, so I have not tried them yet. However, the DM-V1s also work just fine on our trucks for a winter tire and I have a set on my 19" rims sitting in the garage.

I've also used non-OE bulbs in the brake and tails and they work fine, just make sure they are decent bulbs and that they only can be installed such that the filaments are vertical.

Those LED foggers look interesting, mainly because they are yellow, which I do think works better in fog due to less retro-reflection from the water particles in the fog layer. Data is sort of unsubstantiated on that, but I've read theories on this. My eyeballs confirm it.

So...are these plug 'n play?

As you know, the AUX port is behind the center console and conveniently located next to power. I use an inexpensive Bluetooth adapter I found on Amazon (Esonstyle -- the current version is a little different than the one I bought...) which plugs into the 12V and has a short audio cable that plugs into the AUX. For the price (I paid about $12) I'd say that it works pretty well, and is not FM-based. YMMV.
