Look at it first, if it's got issues post what you are looking at, and the dings against it.

What's the beef with V6's anyway? Not enough power for the mass of the vehicle?

I definitely don't want a dog, but I'm not racing people off the line either, so I'm not sure how much I really care.

V8 gets 100 more horsepower, and because of the curb weight of the truck the efficiency differences between the v6 and v8 are minimal, so most stick with more power. The biggest issue people have is that the v6 is going to be pretty slow off the line, and you aren't saving gas anyway.

Anecdotally-speaking, the only thing I have heard for the v6 is that it breaks down less, being slightly simpler in construction. Never could confirm this exactly.

I think that Anecdote went something like a LR service tech said they "very rarely see V6 in the shop". That just may be because that dealership never sold any V6's. Based on the count of used LR3's currently for sale on cars.com/autotradder it looks like LR sold 10X more V8s than V6s in the US.

I have never driven one, but the V6 is probably fine if you dont plan to offroad or tow.

Have somebody look at the front control arm bushings. You'll likely notice it when driving if they're bad. Listen for the differentials to make noise. My rear was bad at ~90K miles.

I take my V6 off-road and have no problems with it. Did some towing, utility trailer with large zero-turn tractor, about 800 miles. Cruise control set at 70 and stayed there.

Mine almost never goess to the shop for anything other than alignments. Last December drove 1,000 miles averaging 80 plus MPH and got 17 MPG. Love everything about this vehicle but the MPG.

Been hit twice, driver side and front. Both other vehicles were totalled, mine had $1700 plus a tire first time, $1200 last time.

V6 is a Ford engine I think. I don't drag race but I keep up, off the line, with most. everyone is suprised to find out it's a V6. Don't knock the V6 till you try one. JMHO.

My turns bad at 115k miles ( I blame 20'' rims from Range Rover that I have on my LR)
Rear height sensor.

90k transfer case, transmission, axle oil change
air cabin filter, expansion tank replacement ( just tired of low cooland massage pop ups onece a while).

You blame the wheels size for the diffs going bad? What I've read is that they're small and don't have enough lube. Theory is that oil changes every 15K miles will get more miles out of front/rear diffs.
