Default o2 Sensors - Argh

So, I've been wanting to tackle this maintenance item for some time. Did plenty of reading up and studying what I'd need and be faced with. Spent around a week applying penetrating oil daily as I'd heard many stories of the horrors of them seizing.

Started on the downstream sensors. First the drivers side. Relatively easy. Disconnecting the electrics was the hardest part!

Moved to the passenger side, lined everything up, applied some pressure, and SNAP. Took the o2 sensor clean off. Didn't even apply much pressure due to the angle.

Given that I'll need to have a bung potentially put in to mount a new one, the truck is a 2006 and has 105,000 miles on the clock. Is it worth looking to have a whole new exhaust system put in whilst in the shop?

Be good to hear some advice of how everyone might approach this.

Thanks

I would just get a new bung, or two. I had to new bungs installed on my BMW and it was $70 USD total. Kinda shocked you snapped one off, you were using a proper O2 socket, right? Also on a side not, I love doing preventative maintenance and keeping on top of stuff but I still have factory downstream sensors. Because they only monitor cats so beyond that they do nothing and really are not worth replacing unless a bad cat code is found, then it could be the cat or sensor.

I've had a few lean codes, misfires and a couple of cat warnings pop up. I've just replaced all the injectors as they were causing the majority of the issues. Judging by the misfires returned on live values it was a good call.

Apart from replacing the cats, this was the last piece of preventative maintenance I wanted to complete for peace of mind. I used the o2 socket from AB and was careful to prep the areas as I could see that they were pretty seized. I've got a shop looking into bungs for me next week as state inspection is due, so I'll get them to repair the bung (if possible), do a quick vacuum/smoke test to make sure there are no leaks anywhere else, then I can move on to the next project/issue.
