Default Oil light with lowered RPM

Just replaced MAF sensor due to P017Q and P0174. Check Engine light turned off however now she randomly drops RPMs while coming to stop or at a light. When it happens it drops low enough to the point that the oil light turns on. Where do i start? Oil level was fine. Tried looking on here and nothing stood out.

OEM replacement MAF? Cheap MAF sensors can work, but cause issues.

Did you do hard reset (pull battery connection). If you did not reset the computer, it may re-adapting. Any time a major component is replaced, always reset it.

i did not use OEM. I ordered one off of amazon. Its a "walker products MAF". I did not disconnect the battery. How long should i leave it disconected for? I will try doing that tomorrow.

I disconnected the battery. I thought the problem was fixed but that did nothing. Im guessing it is probably the non OEM MAF i put on. Its not throwing any codes.

Do you have the old MAF? Swap it in and see if behavior changes.

That's a symptom of a dirty throttle body.

Remove the intake duct between the MAF and throttle body and with access to the throttle valve clean all around the inside of the body, especially in the areas where the valve closes against the sides. A build up of carbon and oil here starves the engine of air, resulting in the drop in power you talk about and almost causing it to stall when approaching junctions or lights.

If you've never cleaned the throttle before then also check the area where the EGR valve enters it, it can become very clogged with carbon deposits.

Alright so i tried the cleaning of the throttle body. It was really dirty. CEL went away then came back on. I ordered a new OEM MAF Sensor and cleared the codes with OBDII, drove 30 miles and CEL came back on.

Oil light is coming on due to the drop in RPM and the subsequent reduced pump pressure. It has nothing to do with the MAF and will not damage the engine (assuming it's not "driven" with the light on it goes right back out when the RPM increases). Fix the RPM drop and you will fix the oil light issue.
