Hello, I have a 2008 Discovery LR3 SE 4.0L gas engine Land Rover. I need to replace the oil pump but the original pump (LR000440) is discontinued and I cannot find it anywhere.
Does anyone know if I could use a 2006, 2007 or 2009 oil pump for the 2008 version? I am assuming that all of these versions have the same Cologne Ford engine.
Or can I use a Ford pump from any of these models:

• 2001–2012 Ford Ranger
• 2001–2010 Mazda B4000
• 1997–2010 Ford Explorer/Mercury Mountaineer
• 2004–2006 Ford Courier
• 2005–2010 Ford Mustang

It looks used, but for $40 you cannot really complain too much. Finding the 4.0L seems to be very difficult compared the the 4.4L, as partgeek.com has at least two 4.4L pumps in stock for less that $200. Hope you get your stuff sorted out. Maybe look for anyone parting out a 4.0L LR3 in your local craigslist.

 

Thank you for your message. Like you said, it is way easier to find original 4.4L Land Rover oil pumps. However, I decided to by a Ford oil pump, part number 4L2Z-6600-A, for the Ford Cologne 4.0L engine. I believe that this pump will fit the 4.0L LR Ford engine. I will receive the pump tomorrow and will let you know if it works.
