Okay Braintrust, I need an assist!
I can shake the hell out of the prop shaft, so I’m thinking it’s the Carrier Bearing. Replace the whole thing or can I do just the bearing? Maybe after all the banging around, the whole shaft would be wise….
…anyone have a brand recommendation?
edit: damn, the bearing is wayyy cheaper than the shaft. Any recommendations on the brand on the bearing? 😀

Bearing is fiddly to change, my shaft only lasted about 6 months before the CV joint near the bearing got notchy. If the CV's and rear uni feel good its worth trying just the bearing.
Also, if the rear uni feels notchy you can't really get the old one out. I tried to press it out with my 12 ton press and couldn't get it out of the carrier, and then even if you did there are no snap rings to keep it in place, looks swaged in. So, don't bother.
Well....a little late for that; part is on the way. Worth the gamble. If they can't press it out, I'll just get a new shaft. I have other vehicles so the time waiting for it isn't much of an issue.
