well, until I test my skills and fail miserably, I'm going to assume it would be challenging, rewarding, and ultimately successful giving it a go myself. YouTube makes it look so easy. But like pretty much everything on this rig, it looks like it'd be easy until you actually get in there and find rust, stripped bolts, previous repairs, and general misery.

There are ebay listings for the service for $275. TBH probably worth it. And they don't accept botched attempts--probably smart on their part!

My botched attempt (on a guineapig) went into my garage, wouldn't trust myself after my ultimate failure with my wife driving it.

I priced a proper HDMI Digital Microscope with soldering station, endoscope and LCD screen and for good ones those started $400 and up. Then you have to have the proper template for the processors chips and microprocessors for balling the connections. To me, would be a big investment I wouldn't use alot and probably past my skills.

No problems soldering wires together and maybe recaping a old ampflier, some resistors, diodes, and have done some bios chips, but nothing above that.

I have gone in and reflowed the larger pins but I have had a 100% failure rate on SMD type soldering. Repairing my suspension/Terrain Response switch went OK but other than that, not so good.

My present project on the bench is a L600 Zenith TransOceanic suitcase radio that's getting a recap and maybe swapping out the selenium rectifier. 1950's tech, not 2008!
