Default Original wheels on LR3 HSE

All 4 of my original wheels on my '05 LR3 HSE are peeling, likely as a result of high pressure automatic car washes. A friend that works for Ford says if that happened to a Ford auto the owner would be entitled to new wheels regardless of mileage or warranty status. Personally, I think it's bunk that my wheels look so bad when my Land Rover is supposed to be so sturdy and proven! Aside from suggesting that I buy a Ford the next time, does anyone recommend a course of action? Has anyone had success approaching Land Rover about a new set of wheels under similar circumstances?

I have the exact same problem on my 05 LR3. I have to go to the dealer Saturday morning so I'll mention it to the maintenance guys. It drives me crazy! The vehicle looks so good but the wheels are just terrible.

I'd take the peeling wheels over driving a Ford. Hell, I would rather drive a Kia than a Ford.

Update: dealer said it would be covered under the standard warranty but is not under the extended LR warranty I have. I do have the option of having their people refinish the wheels to "like new" condition for around $500... maybe after winter.

What about buying a set of used wheels? I purchased four of the 18" size on craigslist for $300.
