Default P0915 Gear shift position error

I am currently going crazy over a P0915 error. My Gp11d throws up 2 transfer case errors, P0560 and P0915. I can get rid of the 0560 and have replaced all the usual suspects, brake switch, battery etc. Now here is the really weird part, if I use Car Scanner (another reader which I use a lot since it is quicker and easier than the Gap) I only get a couple of U codes - 0184 and 0416 - but no sign of the P0560. I have tried another Tcase ecu and get the same results plus the VIN error for the new transfer ecu, so it is not that.
I have been working on this fault for some months now while waiting for a service slot at the local LR shop. The fault was originally triggered when the car stopped without warning with a myriad of faults (loose battery terminal) which all cleared bar this one.
In summary I have substituted transfer ECU, position sensor, hi/lo change motor (I have another conplete gear box so have been able to swap bits) - all to no avail.
Anybody got any thoughts?

What are, if any, physical symptoms exhibited....?

On the other scanner not showing all the codes, that would be because it can't read them.

Like houm said, it would help to know what the physical symptoms are.
Have you confirmed that the transmission neutral signal, which the t case requires, is working properly and getting where it needs to go?

Also does the t case ecu have its power & grounds? Does the t case?

Being able to clear the P0560 temporarily doesn't mean that there's not a problem with voltage somewhere...

Physical symptoms are flashing Hi and Lo indicators on the Range shift ie flashing together. Unable to chose either Hi or Lo. Suspension lowered and frozen. Das readout states that there is a transmission fault and power is reduced.

Have you used the GAP tool to recalibrate the transfer case? There is a routine to calibrate the clutches/motor and position switch, do both. I believe it’s located in the “Test/Service” section of the UI. Make sure your battery is fully charged before starting.

Yep tried both the Gap tool and the "Rover" method to recal. The Gap tool simply tells me the recal was not done (there are 2 steps and I cannot remember which step it would not do). I will check the feed side of the TC ECU to make sure it has power, I did check the fuse to it. I can change from Hi to LO by disconecting the Tc ECU and then putting 12 volts onto the shift motor directly, it shifts and makes a satisfactory wirr/clunk.

Wiring check is essential on these Rovers, so that’s a good thing to review.

Have you checked the TCCM? It’s located behind the battery under the cowl. Very common for water to leak there and corrode the TCCM and connector to the loom.

EAS switch failure? Wiring failure under the shifter/switch?

....any fluids ever spilled in that area?

Yes that is my next search area and am taking the console apart as we speak! Never had anything spilled there but who can tell - wife or kids will not own up !
