We just have a new to us 2007 LR3. Every other time that we drive we get "Transmission Range Not Available" and the TCCM is displaying the faulty code P181F-00 "clutch control system performance". Any ideas of where to start looking? It has new transmission filter, new transmission fluid and new pan.
TCCM is transfer case so changing the transmission fluid and filter will do squat, try a T/C calibration and check the electrical connector (both ends) and maybe do a fluid change.
Thanks! Will do and report back. By both ends you mean the connectors at the TCCM behind the battery and those at the transfer case, or is it there another splice that I'm missing?

Also there is this weird thing where just unplugging and plugging BOTH connectors on the transfer case help resolve issues. Even though they are weather proof connectors, decades of just sitting seems to allow trace corrosion. Exercising the connections seems to help.
Well, seems that someone was in the TCCM before me! Maybe the next step is finding one good used TCCM and getting into reprogramming it. Is this something that the GAP tool will do or are we talking the dealer in here?
That is a sign of water entry and battery not being properly vented. Your connectors will be equally damaged. You have some work ahead of you. Start with cleaning the connectors and those terminals with vinegar and baking soda. Tooth brush can work well but if the corrosion is bad, things may break off. But if that happens, well it was toast to begin with. That ECO case opens pretty easily by the way. If you replace, just swap and live with a silly code saying there is some sorta VIN mismatch or whatever, but it is nothing to worry about.
No, not a safe best. Safe bet is your issues is all of the corrosion as a whole. Meaning if you cleaned only that you would probably still have issues. Was the battery vent tube hooked up to the battery?
Edit: Also check the hood seal in both corners. Usually one has to modify it to allow it to fit again leaving a gap at the very front center. It shrinks and pulls from the corners letting water get in those areas.
