Default Painting the plastic on the LR3

I was wondering if anyone has painted the plastic pieces on the LR3? I love my truck but I think it would look a lot better with the plastic painted the same colour as the body. If anyone has painted it or knows anything about painting, can you please advise me on what needs to be done. Thanks

I saw a dealer costumized LR3 for sale at Rosewood Land Rover here in Ca where they had made it into a beautiful 2 color scheme including the plastic. Not a painter myself so I have no idea what goes into it,but it was a very well done green LR3 with baige trim and interior to match.

I saw something similar about 2 years ago at Land Rover Mission Viejo. They took a black LR3 HSE and painted out the plastic in high gloss paint. It looked pretty slick, but I would be afraid of the paint cracking if the plastic gets flexed. Probably not a big problem in the city, but could really be a problem offroad.

I have seen a few pics of custom jobs on the internet and it looks really nice when done. The dealer does offer all of the parts painted for about $1300 like PakiRover said. They don't have all colors though. I have white and white is not available. $1300 is actually a great price considering you get all the parts and they are factory painted to match. If you were to have this done at a body shop the parts would all need to be primed with a filler primer to smooth out the grain in the plastic and then sanded smooth and painted to match. A flex additive would need to be used in the paint like on all bumper covers and plastic car parts.

When I picked up my LR3 last month, there's one inside the showroom of Mission Viejo color is White including all the black trim outside. It looks nice but I suggest before you do it, ask your local dealer if they have one, so you'll see the actual difference.
