Default PCV valve leaking

I was changing my belts today and noticed the PCV valve had oil residue all underneath it and to the side of it.

Part #: LR003380

Does anyone know if there's damage done when it's leaking? Is it critical I replace it immediately?

The leak that is there is nothing to be concerned about, aside from a small mess.

However, this is usually a sign that the PVC valve should be changed, and may be causing excess crankcase pressure. I would change it out soon, but no need to not drive until you do.

Where is this located on the engine? I can't get the orientation from the pictures (clear pictures though).

I swapped this out a few minutes ago finally. I'd say it was a 1/10 on the difficulty scale. You remove (2) T25 screws and pop out a plastic pin holding a wiring loom passing over it... and then it pops out and the hose is connected via a plastic push-in connector.

Took literally 5 minutes, from removing it, cleaning up the mess all around it, and putting it back in.

How does one go about testing the PCV valve? I have noticed that my 2005 LR3 is using oil (no sign of significant burning; no blue smoke). Maybe normal for the 4.4?

1/2 Qt per 5000 miles... maybe it will be better after my latest batch of repairs, valve cover gaskets, bolts, seals, oil fill spout, and replace valve timing sensor seals. The majority of oil was seeping around the oil fill. Also replacing the PCV Valve, hoses, and a few other misc. items.

I recently replaced both valve cover solenoid seals as they were leaking oil outside on ABS valve covers. It bitterly took me 5 minutes to do that. I was ready for a valve covers replacement as well, as I was told, that to get to those seals, one has to remove covers as solenoid seals are part of it , placed from inside . Boy , I was told wrongly. Seals pup out with a little help of a flat screwdriver and new ones slide right in, over a VVT solenoids. This revelation literally saved me a good half of day of work.

Do you have a part number for those? I need to do this as well and have been putting it off. This is great news.
