Why do you say this?

Well for one, the transmission adaptations do not clear with a battery disconnect. For the engine, I think maybe fuel tables will get cleared but adaptations beyond that, I am not sure based on what I have read. Mainly that people have pulled the battery and still had some issues. The only people to clear certain issues either drove a few hundred miles so the car would re-adapt, or they had a proper tool to clear adaptations. One person noticed that while his new EGR valve took care of the code, the O2 sensor trim was still acting like there was a vacuum leak. A battery reset did not correct trim. But a proper reset with a GAP tool did and at idle the sensors were back in line.

I can say for sure that my 0171 and 0174 codes did not go away after fixing the issue and leaving the battery cables unnattached for 24 hours. Didn’t go away after driving the car for a few days either. Only way for me to get rid of the codes was to clear the learned fuel trims. I used the ILAND tool that Atlantic British sells.
