Rear Hatch Window Molding
I got a self-inflicted ding in my upper tailgate hatch (UGH!!). In order for PDR (Paintless Dent Removal) to be successful, the repair guy has to have access to the back of the ding. In my case, it's RIGHT behind the edge of the window molding.
He may be able to sneak the tool back there, but in case he cannot, does anyone have info on how to remove that molding? Is it difficult?
Thanks in advance,
Erek

Pretty easy IIRC. It's just one screw in the "handle" area and then a bunch of clips that you need to pry off/out. Like every other trim piece, you will probably end up breaking a clip or two, but the chance is minimized if you have a trim removal tool (looks like a giant flat head screwdriver that's split down the middle). That thing has been worth its weight in gold for me.
Pretty good chance that the PDR guy will have such a tool; but I'll grab one for my own kit at some point as well. which "handle" are you referring to? You mean the hollowed-our area that acts as a grab to pull the tailgate down from?
Thanks for the feedback, it's encouraging. I'm sure that if the guy can gain access he'll get the ding out. He's done work for me before, one other time, he's awesome.

You can grab one in any auto store...

These little devils get more use than any other tool on the LR.

Yup, that's the "handle" I was talking about.
