Default Replacing Wiring on LR3 Microphone

I bought my 2006 LR3 HSE used and initially the bluetooth phone system worked great pairing with my iphone 5, however a few months later out of the blue folks on the other end were unable to hear me. The microphone went dead.

I went in through the navigation system and determined that the microphone wasn't working - through the test screen.

i've seen people mention on various forums that the microphone often goes dead because of wires chafing. To fix it its been suggested to remove the head unit and replacing the wiring but i've been unable to locate any instructions.

Anyone have a how-to or some pictures?

Default link to infortainment system data

The link below has a number of pdf's within - some are wiring and others, text pdf's explaining how the infotainment system works.

The mike is located in the overhead up with the interior lights - there is info re it in the pdf's referenced. As to where the wire chafing may most likely occur, that I do not know.
