Req'd to replace rotors at the same time as the brake pads?
The amber warning light has appeared on the dash of my 2006 LR3 letting me know to inspect the brake pads (~42000 miles). I contacted the dealership to get a quote for service and was told that the rotors must be replaced at the same time as the pads. Is this true? Was the guy just trying to get me to pay for something that is really not needed? I was quoted $750 to do the rotor/pads for the front....and $750 for the rear.

if theyre below spec, heavily grooved, the pads got low enough to go metal to metal, or they have excessive runout, then yes, it is. ask for measurement on the rotors, and if you do the rear rotors, make sure that they adjust and 'bed in' the parking brake correctly, its included in the job.
