Default Roof tents

I recently purchased an lr3 with all the mods you could ask for, that is exept for a roof tent. I'm looking for a hard shell one that has rear entry preferably one that folds out and fits around for people. I'm asking for some guidance.

Ikamper Skycamp 2.0 I believe fits the amount of people you are looking for but side open and the Roof Nest Condor XL does as well but also side entry.

The 4 person requirement makes the rear entry a hard find.

Both of the above are awesome tents. That being said, I have a RTT but I put it on my little Army trailer and rarely use it. Last trip I left it behind at the shop. I have come to love and appreciate my Gazelle Tent. Extremely good tent goes up fast and back down fast. Collapsed tent is not super heavy and easy to manage either inside the LR3 or on the Roof rack.

The other downside to the RTT is on the trail can be a bit of a liability in sections of the trail.

4 people in an RTT will surely overload the roof, i would not want that much weight up top even static.

Yeah, four people is a no-go even for most roof tents themselves much less the truck. Unless you are talking two lean adults and two small kids, then probably okay.

I've had good luck with 4 adults (between 150-200lbs per person) people in an old Tepui tents (cant remember my exact model). The truck and the OEM roof bars handled it quite well the only somewhat annoying thing was how the truck rocked a bit when we rolled around in our sleep. Set up and take down at camp takes maybe 4-5 minutes if you know what you are doing and maybe 10 if you don't know what you are doing. The tent is rather heavy and takes about 2 people to load and unload, and maybe 10 minutes total take on/off. I've used the tents for year and its survived the desert, snow, wind, but not the beach quite yet . The only complaint I have is crates a lot of wind noise but that's what you get with most tents, especially soft tops.

Death Valley last year with 4 adults who slept in it the previous night
