Default Rust

I live in a rust prone area and was looking at an eventual replacement for the 3 but it seems that all of these models suffer from the same rust issues in the drivers rocker area as well as the front of the rear wheel arch. Can anyone tell me if this is an issue with the vehicles in the southern areas that dont have snow or exposed to salt? I am willing to pay the shipping cost if I can get a rust free LR3 or LR4 if such a truck exists.
Thanx as always for any info that would help me in deciding my future course with replacing my otherwise awesome Rover.

I would look for one from the Pacific NW. We don't get a lot of snow and some areas use sand instead of salt. We also don't have the kinds of coastlines where living by the beach causes rust.

I just got a 2015 LR4 with 50k miles from Kentucky that has no rust. That being said, some rust reformer and lanolin/oil based undercoating will add years of life and is easy to do. I use rustoleums rust reformer followed by B’laster Surface Shield. Takes about an hour over two days to do once a year.

Cars that lived out here in the Southwest are spotless when it comes to rust.

But they are prone to clear coat damage and fading if not routinely waxed because the sun is so strong.

I'll take fading over rotting any day...lol
Thanx for the insight so far. Hadn't considered the southwest but a dry desert climate sounds about right for rust free. I agree with the lanolin treatment 100% but by the time I get a 10 year old car within 1000 miles the rust is already started.
Blackngold77, do you have names of any local online market places for used cars covering the southwest?

Thanx

Just the usual suspects... Craigslist, Marketplace, Autotrader, Cars.com.

Also check the used cars on Autonation. They include most dealerships around here and will ship
