Should I pay $840 for 90K Service at local LR dealer?
Hay all. I bought a 2008 LR3 a few months ago. It's been great. Some little noises here and there, and apparently a "software update" is needed per some gas pedal responsiveness (lack thereof) issues.
I'm at almost 90K miles and there was no service paperwork that came with my purchase. I'd like the peace of mind of the 90K service to make sure all is good, as I can't vouch for its history. Also, the "check coolant level" warning pops up every week or so, then goes away.
My local LR dealer in Milwaukee charges $840 for the 90K service, but it looks to be a pretty in-depth servicing.
Is it worth it? Should a instead go to a local import-only shop that has good reviews for honesty online, and has experience with LR?
Thanks!

I would save the money and use half of the $890.00 to buy a 2d tool. With the tool you can update/flash install software plus hundreds of other things. Look at the attached service docs for what needs to be done for the 90,000
maintenance. Hope this helps.

I would tell them you will do the 90k, if and only if they can produce to you all the past documentation that LR has on the unit.
I'm fairly sure all they have to do is run your vin number in their data base to come up the any LR doc.s, that would make the 90k worth it, to me. jmho

I'm pretty sure you'll have to replace that coolant bottle for that warning message to stop coming on. I think I read that they had so many problems with the sensors originally that some dealers were actually turning off the warning in the computer software, until they got updated parts to replace the old ones.
I would probably do it as long as it includes the spark plugs. 90K is a pretty big one and $840 doesn't sound out of bed. Sure you can do it yourself for cheaper if you have the capacity. I don't have the space, tools or patience.
...Also, maybe they can give you a break on a tranny fluid change. They throw that in and wrap it all up for <$1000 and I'm in. $999 and I'm doing it.

If you are looking for real peace of mind and are not totally trusting your dealer, I'd recommend taking your LR3 to Glenn at The Euro Shop in Lake Villa, IL (about an hour from Milwaukee). Have him do a good once over on your vehicle and the 90K service. Glenn is a Land Rover Master Mechanic and his daily driver is an LR3. Even if you don't continue to service it there, it would be good to get a clean bill of health from him. He services my LR3 regularly and it's been good to me.
I'm with noob up there. I've not had good experiences at the dealer but have had good luck with independent. Once you've found your favorite independent, you'll be happy. I don't think the price sounds out of line, but it depends on what exactly it includes.
The belts are due at 95k, transmission was due about now. Transfer case and diffs-- do them regardless, inspect the oil.

Thanks all. I am aware of the Euro Shop in Lake Villa, IL and will explore it in the future. I did the 90K at Fields LR in Waukesha, WI and all seemed to go well. I also joined their rewards program and got 10% off. So it was $760 for the whole thing...
