Default Strange Cylinder Misfire

My 2005 LR3 V6 has a cylinder 3 misfire. It misfires at idle, misfire counts go up between 800-900 RPM's, and completely go away at over 1,100 RPM's...... what is going on with cylinder 3? Truck is perfectly drivable at high RPM's, except when RPM's are low for extended periods of time, like at red lights and stop and go traffic, then the Reduced Engine Performance kicks in.

any help would be appreciated.

My money is on the ignition coil dying.

Also check all wiring is tight and not damaged

Swap #3 coil with another cylinder - see if the issue moves, or stays at #3

Misfires often go away at higher rpms

I believe it's a mechanical issue because I did a engine compression check by cranking and checking amps on battery; there is definitely a dip in amps drawn on cylinder 3.... a LR repair shops recommended a engine swap for over $6,500.... I just don't get that when the engine runs so good on the freeway or high RPM's over 1,200 ...

I'm guessing there is a timing issue, a bad teeth or chain, or cam shaft.... how would I test these?

thanks

Yeah I'd swap coil and plug on the bad cylinder and see if the problem moves, assuming that hasnt been done yet. But why did the LR shop say it needed an engine swap?

because they couldn't figure out the problem, they said they did compression check, and leak down tests, and all checked out....

Hmm, I would hope they would have already done the simple things like check plugs and coils then....

yes, I already did all that, parts swaps, problem stays the same...

So you said there was a "dip in amps drawn on cylinder 3" right? Do you mean you were monitoring the ignition circuit on cyl. 3 and saw some kind of voltage drop there that you didn't see on the other cylinders? If so, that would lead me to believe it's not a mechanical but an electrical issue... But maybe I misunderstood what you were saying.
