Default strange noise

I have an '06 LR3 with about 2500 miles on it. It just started making a strange noise when the key is turned. (Either turning the vehicle on or off) It is this high pitched squealing/squeaking noise. It started about a day or so ago after a hike & some rain. At first I was thinking maybe some dust/rain got on the key and the noise would go away after a day, but it's still there. Any thoughts? Gonna give the dealer a call on Monday. Thanks.

It's kinda hard to even guess without knowing where the noise is really comming from. Can you tell at all?

I think I may have figured it out.... I had a portable converter plugged into the power outlet in the second row when it was making the noise. I unplugged it to put it away and no noise! I realized that the noise only started after plugging that in so the two must be connected. Still not really sure why there would be the noise, but at least it hasn't been making it!

Bingo. I found the same noise myself when I used a plug-in converter for my laptop. More than likely you were hearing static over the speakers in your LR3. At least that was the case with mine. I was trying to plug in the laptop to the AUX line to watch a movie and hear it over the LR3 sound system and the static on the speakers drove me crazy!
