Thinking about buying an '06 LR3
I'm in the market for a new vehicle, and have always been interested in Land Rovers. I found a 2006 LR3 SE for sale (I'll post the autotrader link at the bottom so you can see the exact vehicle). Anyway, my question is whether or not it would be a smart move to purchase this vehicle. I have a few concerns. Firstly, I've heard that Land Rover's can have some reliability issues. I know that anything you read online is usually blown out of proportion, however I wanted to know if there was anything I should be on the lookout for. Secondly, the number of miles is a little concerning. I would be financing this car, so it would need to at the very least last me another 5 years. I don't drive a ridiculous amount (average 10k-12k a year), would it be likely that I would have any major issues during that time? Thirdly, how does that price look? I know nothing about Land Rover pricing, so am not sure if that's a good price or not. Edmunds.com seems to think it is, but I've found sometimes their estimates can be a little off. I appreciate any and all advise I can get, and thanks in advance to anyone who helps.

I would suggest you read, read, and read some more.
There are a lot of useful treads in the LR3 section of this forum.
If you're still not sure, I always recommend perspective buyers to have the vehicle checked over by a professional before purchase.
The couple of hundred dollars you will spend may save you thousands, or at least give you some bargaining power..

All depends on how it was maintained. Are there any records? Have the dealer get you a free carfax report; see if the original owner had it serviced at an LR dealer. Call them and see if they have any records on repairs, recalls, etc.
The dealer probably took it on a trade and gave the owner slightly less than black book/auction. If there are some service records, assuming it wasn't abused, and with those miles and thirsty engine, I bet you could offer somewhere around $14k and get it between $14,5-15k. Tax, title and feed and you're around $16 or so out the door which should be around $300/ month.
I think you could probably get something similar with lower miles (75k). After 100k, it seems like repairs come more frequently and start to add up, especially if you can't wrench it yourself.
Spend a few hours on this forum (and other LR forums) to get a better idea of what you're getting into.

purchased an 06 LR3 earlier this year, did a ton of research and also took it into a shop and had it thoroughly gone over. Mileage on mine is considerably lower 44k. Previously owned a Disco3 and around 100k things started to go.....to me the price sounds fair, but it doesnt hurt to negotiate.
