Default Tie rod replacement

Has anyone replaced the tie rods on their 3? I'm looking to do mine and was just wondering how difficult of a job it is and if anyone has instructions in how to do it. I know after replacing the tie rods I will have to get a 4 wheel alignment.

Are you talking about the tie rod ends or the complete (i.e. inner) tie rods? Either way, whatever you hear from me is hearsay because I haven't done it yet, but it's supposed to be easy. I think the only specialty tool you need (if doing the inners) is a pipe wrench or something similar to hold the round part of the tie rod while you uncouple it.

I'm looking to do both the inner and outer tie rod.

They sell it as a kit now, that comes with both, and is a bit cheaper than buying each separately. It is doable if you are handy. Try here, here, or here.

Did both my tie rods the other day and it was really simple. Took around a hour per side. Just needed an alignment when I was done. It was really self explanatory, the kit I bought from lucky8 arrived quick! Couldn't beat the price either!
