Tires for LR3
#24
How do you like the BFGs? What were you running prior? I’d love to get feedback from folks that went Duratracs to BFG KO2 or BFG KO2 to Duratracs specifically with an LR3.

I loved the duratracs except I blew a sidewall almost every time I aired down. I have owned 12 and blew 6 sidewalls. They do get a little noisy for the 2nd half of tread life. Great on road manners.
My LR3 is less of daily drive these days, so I stepped up to BFG KM3s and its not perceivably different from the Duratracs on the street. Im sure with a tape measure you could find some stopping distance lost, but the KM3s are GREAT for east coast off road conditions!!
Moving from 18" rims down to 17" and 32" diameter up to almost 33" (285/70r17) was absolutely game changing. Wish I did it long ago (like right after sliders).

Thanks a for sharing your experiences! Were the blowouts from rocks or just the bead off? I’ve been airing down to between 15-16 psi for sand without issues. I agree on the road noise, they are noticeably louder now. I haven’t considered the KM3s, I should if their on road behavior and noise is similar to Duratracs. Do you have much experience with snow use with the KM3s? Interested to know how well they perform in deep snow as well as on road packed snow compared to the Duratracs? Duratracs I’ve found work fine in the snow for when I head north a few items during the winter... VT and Canada (maybe not this year if restrictions are in place).
Awesome looking D3 too! What color is that? Are you using D2 wheels? Interested to know what is so game changing on the 17/33” combo vs the 18/32? Not sure I am up for tackling the mods to go this route but always interested in knowing about the different setups... especially to get more recent updates of the mods performance over time.
