Default Trailer lights

The previous owner rigged up some odd wiring. Definitely not OEM. Can’t get the light to work. Thinking the best route is to order the kit from Atlantic British and reinstall. It is a comparatively expensive kit so wondering if it’s with the extra $$.

tks!

I think so. I have them on 3 of the 4 in the family fleet. Easy install, has proper connecters and rubber grommet that fit the OEM opening behind the left tail light.
The one without one is the 2016 LR4 that my daughter drives with that *(%@^ ! 3.0 Supercharged V6. I will never tow anything ( I absolutely hate that engine).

I got the Atlantic British tail light kit and started to install. I removed the tail light and now see why the current set up doesn’t work. Previous owner spiced in another connector.

Note the additional red wire routed through the grommet. No idea what that is for but I don’t think it should be there. Wondering how to best handle this. Can I just snip off all of the wires from the old plug along with extra red wire, tape them off, and then install the plug in Atlantic British kit? Or is that going to cause all kinds of electrical problems?

Now I see. They tried to hook up trailer lights.

I’m hoping I can just snip off the crap I don’t need and tape off the ends. Then install the pug and play Atlantic British kit.

Got it installed and it’s working fine with the other wire I snipped taped off. What a relief.

I have the same Curt light controller in my LR3. I don't get the trailer light on the dash and it doesn't like LED trailer lights, they flash at random, which you won't get in a incandescent bulb. Works fine for pulling my utility trailer and boat.

I read through the links, saw the one regarding turning off the hot/cold lamp check with the Gap-
and it must not apply to LR3's as I could not find that.

It's not a big deal for me, for the company LR3 used to pull the utility trailer has LED's and the flashing is annoying.
