Default Trailer Wire Harness

Quick question, has anyone ever wired up a their LR for towing using any harness other than the Landrover one? If so did they have any issues.

I have. I used 14gauge wire. The crimp on connectors I had on hand fit the dummy connector inside the cabin. I loosely followed AB's routing instructions. I found a connector at NAPA that fit the frame at the hitch. The PIN diagrams are available online. Everything works fine. The trailer icon in the dash even flashes with the directionals.

My notes show the wires as follows...
Green = Right Turn Lamp
Yellow = Left Turn Lamp
Brown = Tail Lamps
Blue = Brake Controller
Dark Green/Brown = Reverse
Orange = Aux Power Supply
Red/Yellow = Rear Fog Lights

Don't know where you live, but I had my local Hitch install shop put the wiring in my '08 LR3. Turns out it had the connectors and all they had to do was plug things in. Cost me $50 and I was in/out in about 30 mins. Couldn't have done it myself for that. You need to be careful with add-on wiring as the circuits have some electronics in them and are rather 'fragile'.

I actually did it myself in the end and its not that difficult at all. I do have to now build a plug that has a load resistor as my current trailer has LED lights.

Bought the stock LR trailer wiring and did it myself. Also have a NATO plug installed on the right side to attach my small trailer that used to go behind my Pinzgauer.
