Took everything apart again and found that I bent the #1 pin on the tcm 😒

Attempted to very carefully bend it back and it broke off, so now I’m stuck with one of three options:
1.) never have sport mode or command shift again.
2.) find a way to repair the broken connection
3.) buy another tcm (from what I’ve read you can’t reprogram used ones).

Although both Land Rover and and BMW use very similar 6HP units, it is my understanding that BMWs are locked to VIN and Rovers are not. So a used TCM could still be an option.
You could also get a remanufactured valvebody from ZF, they usually run about $1600-1800 but come programmed by VIN and also comes with fluid and a new pan.

unfortunately, everything that I have read online indicates that the new TCU must be programmed. There is even some question as to whether or not you can even re-program a unit once it has been mated to a vehicle.

I'm interested in what lead you to rebuilding the valve body, what errors/issues did you have ?

I did not rebuild the valve body internals, just redid all of the seals between the valve body and transmission and replaced solenoids.

the vehicle had the “ca stop” shudder and was throwing a solenoid performance code on the highway. The new seals and solenoids fixed both issues.

No worries, any reason you didn't do the rest of the seals while it was apart ?

not sure what other seals you are speaking of, but I replaced everything that was replaceable without removing the transmission or pulling apart the valve body.

There are orings on the plungers in the valve body.

Yeah, that would require splitting the valve body assembly. I’ve done it before and saw zero improvement on another vehicle, so I decided to skip that this time.

Did you ever get the issue resolved? I have the same issue.
