Default Transmission leak and overheat

So, driving the LR3 the other day, and suddenly noticed that pushing the accelerator was causing the engine to rev, but without noticable acceleration. Engine RPMs would jump, but no go. Of course, we're on the way to the airport for an international flight, so I hoped I could simply milk it along and deal with the problem when I got back.

No such luck. I pretty quickly saw the engine temp shooting up, so I worked my way off the highway and pulled over. I get out to find fairly heavy transmission fluid leakage, and also the smell of coolant, with coolant loss.

Now, the initial symptoms sound like a rapid loss of transmission fluid, and I would only expect that kind of rapid loss from a transmission line rupture. Oddly, nobody seems to sell the transmission lines. The fact that it overheated at the same time maybe suggests a radiator problem, especially since I see that the radiator and transmission cooler are a single unit on these vehicles.

Thoughts?

I should add here that we go no fault warnings of any sort during all of this (other than the temp guage, obviously). Also, when I got back into town, I started it up and let it idle while I searched and searched for leaks of any sort. It warmed up fully, but didn't overheat or leak. I didn't actually drive it, because I'm concerned that the tranny fluid is low.

Without actually seeing this i'm not really sure how to help.
Things to check, coolant level in the reservoir, pinpointing the trans fluid
leak if there is one. I've seen the metal trans cooler lines rust out and also the lower trans cooler line at the radiator leak/seep at the fitting.
Coolant leak could be anything?? a quick fill and pressure test should solve that mystery.
Other than these checks, I'd recommend you flatbed it to a technician you trust.

Thats a weird problem. The transmission should be leaking regardless when the truck is on and off but more so when on. Only way it wouldn't is if it is out of fluid. I say flat bed it to a shop.. You don't want to screw it up!!
