How to fix parking sensor sounder with an $18 Ford part
I've seen it pop up on here and other Rover forums where the parking sensor sounder speaker fails then causes faults for the parking sensor system and then makes the parking sensor light flash in the button on the dash. That last part was super annoying for me having that light flash every time I started the truck. So in my search for a new sounder speaker somehow a Ford part popped up in the images that looked almost identical to the Rover one. I put that part number into Amazon and for only $18 it looks like I can get my parking sensor system working again as the only fault that was in there was for the sounder(speaker). Here are pictures and the part number, hopefully when it cools off later (currently 100+ outside) I'll put this in and make sure it works.
The Ford part works perfectly, electrical connector snaps in place just fine and the screw holes line up as well and it beeps when close to stuff when backing up.
My speaker is extremely quiet. Is there a way to turn up the volume or is that a sign that it needs to be replaced?
I'm not sure if there is a way to change how loud it is. Mine was just not working at all and this fixed it. It was a bit of work to get at the sounder but for what the Ford part cost it was worth it to not have a rover shop do it or charge me for a genuine part.
Out of interest where is this item located in the vehicle ?
It's behind the trim in the left rear. I have 15 years experience being a tech for a few different brands of vehicles and have a large tool box and it took me about 1-1.5 hours. It's not fun and I cheated and was able to carefully force some trim off without taking some other pieces off that saved some time. By the book taking everything off you are suposed to this is probably at least 2 hours of work with automotive experience.
