Default Vibrations when going at over 70 mph : (

it feels like driving over small ribs in the pavement
when going over 70 mph .
LR3 SE 2006 214,000 Miles.
Changed Transmission Fluid around 93k and again
in the 180k area.I
t has started happening in ours when doing over 70 mph.
Mechanic took it out to 70 with my wife and reproduced it twice, says it's transmission Torque Converter, and that he will add a fluid that will stop it and that it's like a miracle fluid.
When I asked how long it lasts ..he exclaimed forever (relatively speaking).
Is it possible it is something else ?
Thank you

Is it possible? I'd say it's likely....and that your Mechanic is a phony.

I'd look for a new mechanic.

Your most likely culprits are:

Wheels need to be balanced
You need an alignment
Center bearing on your drive shaft is shot
Front control arm bushings or ball joints are shot

Less likely, you had uneven tire wear or a flat spot on a tire

I missed writing he said it is the Torque Converter.
So it could be these other things..

Please do not go back to that mechanic, you're getting ripped off.

If it had anything to do with the transmission you'd hear noises from it, you'd have hard shifts or hesitation or it wouldn't shift at all. I promise you if it had anything to do with the transmission you would know something big is wrong

Hi..no he is ok his nickname people call him is knowledge.
He is like the people here always helping and advising people.
I just ask here as many here are Land Rover people who are more familiar with the quirks of this thing.
I forgot to write originally that he said it is the Torque Converter

I had a torque converter going bad in my 2007 Ford F150 (old 4-speed, not the 6R80 similar to the 6HP26 in our LR3's). Above 70 mph when coming out of lockup, it would feel like you just ran over a rumble strip. Fresh fluid made it go away for about 20k miles, then it lost 3rd and 4th one day. Full rebuild including a torque converter and never had a rumble strip noise again.

Your mechanic may not be crazy, and fluid may actually keep wolves away... for a while.

TC shudder is normally momentary and not typically prolonged. I am not a fan of most snake oils. What fluid is being used exactly for the previous changes? The wrong fluid is known to harm the transmission so if the wrong fluids have been used, then it may be why you are in this situation now - again, assuming it is a transmission issue.

But I will say when I had shuddering at high speed, it was my front lower control arms.
