ooh and lifts are 5$

Or you can get the little plugs, I saw some guy selling them for about 50$ and they took about 20 mins to install/remove. It basically tricks the computer as to where the heigh is set.

And what I have always wondered. Since its Independent suspension do the tires self align or are they aligned at hwy heigh and then misaligned off road.
From what I remember from the LR3 launch that I went to back in '04 the air ride lowers the faster you go to enhance drivablility.
So if you have the terrain response set to rock crawl and then jump on the expressway the terrain response will automatically adjust to high mode once a certain speed has been reached.
And then once you slow back down it goes back to its normal ride height.

And can you clarify what you mean by align the tires?
Do you mean like a standard wheel alignment? Like what you do to prevent uneven tire wear?

I was speaking of camber

On independent suspension a lift requires an alignment because your pivoting the tire around a point mounted to the frame. On solid axle trucks there is no pivoting your simply lifting the truck straight up

a lift creates positive camber.

the airbags just move the body up and down don't they? I don't think they have any effect on the geometry of the suspension and tires...that should be held in place by torsion bars like any other IFS 4wd

I recall from the LR3 launch they were showcasing it in the jungle in Central America, Belize maybe, not sure, but an airbag failed and the LR3 had to be towed out of the jungle.

Coming from someone who doesn't even like how much electronics is on my 95 and 97 Disco's, pigs will fly before I ever buy something like the LR3 for off-roading.

i dont understand torsion bars.

But I do know yotas 4runners and tacomas are like this..

Now if the airbags were between the body or since it has two chassies [still dont get that] between the two chassies that would make sense. BUT....

Then it would have spring suspension and Im PRETTY sure it has AIR suspension

I agree with Tom. If you thought maintaining a Disco I was sometimes expensive, I would hate to even consider an LR3. And it would be almost all dealership.

Why don't you call a dealer and get a quote for the major maintenance packages and see what they get for that. Price a blown airbag and a problem with the hill descent computer requiring replacement. You could probably buy a few more DI's for that kind of price.
