Default Water in Passenger Front Footwell

Hello, I’ve looked into regular culprits for this problem but I’m looking for further advice. I have replaced the front cowl and sealed sunroof (it’s no longer operational) so I’m not sure what my next steps should be. My mechanic says I need to replace the sunroof itself but that will cost me about $2k which is a frightening amount.

Thanks in advance

Did you shield the pollen filter box? Have you checked the A-Pillar?

Thank you for your response. How would I shield the pollen filter box? I have not done anything there. I also haven't checked if it's wet when the footwell is. Is that likely?

How would I check the a-pillar? My understanding is the drainage hose from the sunroof is much more complicated to access (and beyond my capabilities) compared to the drivers side drainage hose.

Shield it by attaching a piece of thing metal or plastic or even laminated paper. Then for the A-Pillar there are holes you can just duct tape over.
