Follow-up to my winter prep of Fluid film. After a pretty thorough under carriage frame and body rattle can spray, took her out for a drive to the restaurant one evening in traffic. The smoke that billowed from underneath as it burnt off the fluid film over spray from the exhaust system while sitting in stop and go traffic appeared to many as a , “yet another Landy let down destined for the familiar habitat of the repair shop”.

Heading into summer so time to service the cooling system, new water pump, coolant outlet, belt tensioner, belt idler pulley and serpentine belt.
Need to drain and refill the coolant which will require better access under the radiator where the thermostat is located on the TDV6 so that's a job for dad's ramp.

Another 10k km driven, so oil and filter change. Used Mannol 7707 like the last time and a Mann filter.

Checked the brake pads (42k km driven since last change) but they were in good shape front and back. Readjusted the and did the EPB bedding.

All is good now, knock knock

Default Went on a diet for the winter

Since moving to the homestead and putting the Rovers to "work" I figured it was time to remove some of the "overlanding" equipment and configure it for homestead work for a while as we need to pull the trailer back and forth from the building supply places and use it as a winch platform for felling and dragging trees to add wood to the pile for next winters heat while I clear more area for developing the forest I now live in and to ..

As such, the 270 degree awning has come off as well as the swing out shower roof rack, the Roam Adventure Cases with their quick mounts, the 4 big off road lights, jerry can holder, spare tire carrier (I put the spare back underneath for now) and even the ladder. I have a 16 ft flatbed trailer so I need the extras GVWR at the trailer for those trips to the building supply store. I did leave the dog guard and the Mollie shelves in as well as the fridge on the inside as we still stack bags in the back and use the fridge when we go into town for groceries.

This last 6 months have been the most our rovers have spent off road in their entire lifetime. Dust in the interior and mud on the outside seem to be the new seat and paint covering vs leather treatment and and ceramic paint coating when we lived in the city. I now appreciate the rubber floor mats more than ever.

Jeff

Just replaced the clock spring on the steering column due to intermittent and erratic functions, easy job once you have made a hook to remove the airbag.
Just a couple of screws to release the lower column shroud then 4 screws that hold the spring mechanism to the column and a few electrical plugs to release.
