So i'm in the process of of deciding on what winch I want to use on my LR3. Being that it is either going to be in a ARB style bumper or a hidden winch mount i'm pretty certain I want something that has electric/air controlled clutch. So far I've seen the Red Winches, and the attachments that work on some Aussie winches. Very very nice looking winches but yikes on the price. Are there any other options out there at less of a cost that retain the automatic free spool? Or is it just time to bite the bullet and buy something thats high quality?

 

Seems like just something else that will need maintenance, cant say i have heard of an electric/air controller. My 20yo warn and chinese wireless controller works just fine although a little under powered for a D3 at 8000lb.

 

I wouldn't be worried about it with the red-winches. Their stuff is top of the line I see what your saying on the cheap end though.
