Has anyone got quotes on LR3 windshield replacement?, mine was $1320.00. Covered by insurance thankfully.

Ouch! I went through the same issue with my Mercedes. If I went with factory glass it was $900 or the factory-authorized vendor glass was $250 or pay deductible. Luckily I haven't had to go through this with my LR3.

Make sure you have glass coverage I guess!

Okay, I now have a broken windshield in my '08 LR3. Is there anything unique about having it replaced? Do I have to go to the LR dealer or can just any auto glass place handle it? I don't have the winter pkg, but I am wondering about the rain sensors that turn on the wipers. Is that in the glass or somewhere else?

Why is the heated windshield necesary? I live where it is winter 6 months of the year and none of my other vehicles have had one, or needed one?

Rocks/gravel around here means windshield replacement every two years. The heated one costs nearly $500 more. I am thinking of ditching my heated one this time round. Am I nuts?

yes, if the insurance pays for it your an idiot. But if you have to then go nuts. But it lowers the value of the vehicle dramatically. Plus you are falsely representing the vehicle.

and it saves on gas.

-no windshield insurance. Rare up here to have windshield covered.
-first vehicle that has had e heated windshield
-strange in that defrost mode (hot air) I can't redirect some air to my feet at the same time. This is the hot ticket during the winter months.

I will live with the windshield as is through the next winter. Hopefully the E heater still works with the crack. I'll see how much I likew it through the really cold months.
