07' LR3 vs 10' LR4
A local car dealer has a 10' LR4 for sale. How would it compare to our 07' LR3 HSE? I really like our 07'. Would there a big difference in the 10' LR4? I know the engine is a 5.0L vs the 4.4L ours has. Are there more problems with that motor? I might go look at it just to see it in person.
I had two LR3 with the 4.4; 08s both, good cars; one had a cylinder head issue so LRNA traded for the second. Today, I have a RRS with the 5.0; much better. More power, smoother shifting, but noisier. Maybe run the 07 a bit longer (by now it is probably sorted out) and wait for low mileage 13 (last year for the 5.0).
Was 13 also the last year for the stick style shifter before they went to the dial?
My take is the 4.4L is simpler, less things to break. Dual intake wastes all that nice space for extra goodies on the drivers side of the engine bay. the 4 however did have several years to improve upon the various issues like diffs going bad, control arm longevity. The 3 did have the ability to update, swap in parts though.

I'm not denying that the LR4 is better than the LR3 but is it X amount of $$ better?
In my opinion not until LR4's come down in price.
I personally would be disappointed with the upgrade at twice or 3x the price for a bit more power/aesthetics.
