Default 1st to 2nd gear kick

Greetings, I am wondering if someone can help me out with an issue I am having..

2012 LR4 V8

The car has a kick going from 1st to 2nd gear, most of the time its a small kick and sometimes its more noticeable... and sometimes it shifts just fine.
This is going from a stop at moderate acceleration.
When I accelerate really slowly, it shifts fine into 2nd.
When I step on it, it shifts fine.
When I shift manually (using the sifter -/+), I can get it to shift fine

What could be the the issue? did anyone experience this or have some insight?
thanks for your help

How many miles on the truck? Have you done the tranny service?

the scheduled service is at 75k for the tranny.. Not saying that that is the cause but it is worth while approach to take. new filter and fluids can certainly help out. There is an upgrade kit you can get from Atlantic British that has a better and easier to service filter as well as replacing the tranny pan from the OEM plastic to a an all metal. I did this service on my 2006 LR3 and I must say the smoothness was so noticeable. disclaimer the LR3 had 122k on it.

I think I may have to try that, I was just hoping to see if anyone has other ideas on this .. or experiance something similar.
The car shifts fine on higher gears... it's just that one small jerk/kick after takeoff that's driving me insane.

thanks for your help

I have the same feeling in my LR3. Much more noticeable when the truck is cold. 125k on my truck... unknown if the trans was serviced prior to me owning it so it might be original fluid
