2010 LR4 - Rear Diff Type - How to Tell
2010 LR4 HSE, 65K Miles. New to Land Rover as of this month.
How do I tell if the rear diff is open or locking?
I don't see a wire harness going to the differential, but it's possible I'm overlooking it. When I use the screen to show 4x4 details, it shows a lock/unlock over the rear diff.
Here's what the VIN decoder says for Mechanical and Power Train:
6-speed automatic transmission w/Commandshift
2-speed electronically controlled transfer gearbox
Electronically controlled infinitely variable locking center differential
Pwr rack & pinion steering
Push button start
All wheel drive
4-corner electronic air suspension
Terrain response system
Front & rear ventilated disc brakes
Electronic parking brake

The HD pack ( an option) provides locking rear diff. Also, if you look under the rear wheel arch along the line of the rear axle you will see a solonoid (aka a 'thing') over on top of the rear diff; this is the locking mechanism.
