I have a 2011 LR4 with 250k km that's making a loud ticking noise. Got it with 190k, and not sure it had been well maintaned. Local mechanic thinks the ticking is the lifters and that the timing chain needs to be replaced, but I'm worried that once they open the engine up they're going to find more work that needs to be done / parts that need replacing. Initial research says timing chain should have been replaced around 100k and 200k, but guessing it's never been done!

Body is good and suspension renewal is currently in progress so would like to keep the vehicle, but not sure if i's worth doing the timing chain and whatever else is found, or rebuilding or even replacing engine? Would appreciate thoughts.

Also finding someone I would trust who is willing to work on it is proving impossible. I'm in Atlantic Canada and can get vehicle as far as Ontario or into Maine / New Hampshire to ensure the work is done by someone competent, so looking for recommendations for either a specialist LR mechanic or engine rebuilder in those areas please.
