Default 2013 HSE lux with heavy duty package?

how do you distinguish whether or not it has the heavy duty package? as far as i know it was always an option regardless of what model for 2013. I'm checking out an hse lux, but trying to figure out if it has it or not. anyone know how to tell? extra buttons for the rear locking diff or what? I'm wondering if most of the dealerships stocked them with that option on it on the hse and the lux as kind of a standard or you had to special order it when you bought it new. thanks

lux has rear diff locker that you can see from the off-road menu on the nav screen. It is automatic, so no buttons to give it away. Full size spare is also a sign it has the HD package.

Have mine for 4 months now, great vehicle. Gas mileage horrible in city but have seen 19.2 on highway. Better than my traded F150 4X4 with 5.4. V-8 in LR has more HP than the truck too.

I assume you found what you were looking for... But for people who want more info... I just went through that same exercise. It's best to have a dealer look up the VIN and see what the build sheet says.

I was ready to buy one at a dealer in Colorado. The display suggested it had the rear locking diff... The only clue that it didn't, was the lack of a full sized spare. (2011 ... not sure for other model years) I was shocked that it didn't have it! We are in the mountains!!! Don't assume!

- It's not a cheap option
- most owners will never use it
- obviously not all have it

actually i haven't found what I'm looking for yet, so thanks for the input. the full size spare is the key that I've found as well. most of the dealers just lie to me over the phone saying that it does have it. then of course come to find out they're full of sh** and just are trying to sell a car. its really hard to find one that has it bc none of the dealers ordered it with that package.

I found mine on autotrader and flew from Denver to St Louis to get it! Had the local dealer check it out for what I wanted and a "used car" once over for $142. They also found a leak in the water pump so they replaced it under warranty!! Good luck!

Might also be worth taking a look at a LR4 without the HD option. The brain that runs the 4 wheel drive system is truely phenomenal.

I was hesitant and wanted a HD one myself, settled for a regular HSE (2012). No regrets at all. Just throw on some good tires and the LR will blow your mind with the places it'll take you.
Good luck and happy wheeling with whatever ya get
