Default 2015 LR4 KEY FOB Programming

So as I understand it Key FOBs for a 2015 LR4 must either be programmed by a dealer or the GAP IID scan tool. Perhaps by a locksmith if he/she has the correct tool.

Is there any other OBDII port scan tool - cheaper than the GAP - that will sucessfully program a 2015 LR4 FOB?
TIA

I've only ever seen a dealer or a GAP tool program keys. Hell, on the newer LR products, I think your only choice is to go to the dealer.

Would a used GEN 3 IID model work OK on a 2015 LR4? Last pic seems to indicate it would.
Then what - contact GAP to have it registered for my specific vehicle so it can perform functions? Extra annual costs or one time?

GAP has a nice detailed website, I'd recommend going on there and reading everything and it'll answer all your questions. But yes a G3 is all you'll need for an LR4
