Default 2016 Land Rover LR4 SCV6 3.0L Noise

Can anyone tell me what this sound is? I’ve removed belts from everything even the SC and it still doesn’t go away.. timing chain or rod bearing? Also- All cylinders have 120-130 PSI compression.. coolant system holds 10 psi no leaks.. Thanks for the help!

Does not sound like timing chain or rod bearing to my ears, and I think that would be unusual in car this new unless it’s been absued. Could be one of the HP fuel pumps, although the sound seems a little slow on timing for the pumps. There are two - one for each rail. They are mechanical pumps run off a cam that turns with the engine. The cam hits a tappit to push the pump plunger. There is a TSB on excessive noise from these pumps. Both HP fuel pumps are on the passenger side of the motor, down below the valve cover. Is the sound louder on the passenger side?

The other thing that can make a clicking sound is the viscous fan clutch, but that sounds a little different to me as well. Still, is it louder around the fan?

It increases with engine speed, correct? Maybe you could post another video while revving the engine a bit. Does it do it all the time (hot/cold, high/low rpm)?

Also, any check engine light or fault codes (if you have a scanner)?

I thought about the high pressure fuel pumps and the cam followers possibly making noise .. so I’ve been all over this engine with a stethoscope and it’s somewhat louder on the passenger side Valve cover.. only code is B1 camshaft sensor .. but I’ve swapped them around from the other bank and still gets same code .. so surely something with the camshafts? I’ve taken the SC belt off and no change .. and I’ve recently changed the clutch fan.. if you raise the rpms it gets worse .. it seems like once it warms up (206 degrees) something appears to tighten up and a few times the motor has came to a stop.. not sure exactly what’s causing it but didn’t appear to be good .. thanks for your help!

Yeah, that doesn’t sound good. I understand the VVT (variable valve timing) solenoids can go bad (I believe its also called a variable camshaft timing solenoid). I think that might trigger a camshaft position sensor error. I don’t know what that sounds like when it happens. Sorry - was hoping it was something more straightforward.

Actually, looks like the variable camshaft timing solenoids are mounted on the timing chain covers, right up front. So, if that’s the problem, probably not a big deal to change them out. Haven’t done it myself, so not sure.

Was this resolved? I’m having the same issues. After 15 minutes of warms up the noise comes on. Any info would be greatly appreciated
