2016 LR4 front view camera got pushed into the bumper cover
Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had a great first day in 2021.
With just a few hours remaining in 2020, I decided to take my LR4 for a wash on the New Year’s Eve. As crazy as many things that happened in 2020, the car wash machine gave the LR4 a serious whip and pushed the left front view camera right into the bumper cover.
I’ve attached the photos of the right camera that survived and the hole on the bumper cover where the left camera was mounted.
My guess is that I will have to remove the entire front bumper cover to re-install the camera which seems to be quite some work. Not sure how the camera is mounted but probably glued to the bumper cover. I removed the fog light hoping I can get to the camera but the space is too small to get my hand behind the bumper cover.
If anyone has experienced this, I’d love to hear your success story. I can’t seem to be able to find a good instruction on how to take off the front bumper cover.
Many thanks!

This is the hole where the left camera was mounted. The camera is dangling inside the bumper cover.

I did not need to remove the whole bumper, but rather just the fog light. With that removed, it was easy to access the bumper camera area. Here is a link to the thread when I had the same question.

Thank you! I actually did read your old message first before I posted it. My first attempt through the fog light housing wasn’t successful because the camera fell down deep into the bumper cover and the fog light housing hole only allows one figure to get behind the bumper cover. I managed to get it fixed the second time by using a hook to fish up the camera and I was barely able to use one figure to push it back in place. Applied some gorilla super glue to the bracket and hopefully it will stick there. Will not take it to another auto wash for sure.
I did talk with the LR dealer and they said it would take 2-4 hours to take off the entire bumper cover and stick the camera back at $180/hr. I guess this is how they make money.
Thanks again!
