Default 255/65/r19 tyres on a LR4

Hi. Need new rubbber and wheels. I have heard conflicting things about people fitting the big Conti 65/19 tyres that come stock on the New Defender onto a D4. Like the front may rub. If it drops to bump stops it will completely drop onto the rubber (which sounds kinda dangerous at speed). I have had a bad compressor on one car but it never dropped me suddenly onto the bump stops. Is that possible? If so I’ll stick with a 55 or 60 tyre wall (60/19s are so hard to find though - if anyone has a recommendation for a soft riding all season tyre Lmk!) cheers.

No maximum is 255/60r19 and then u have no rub and can fit in sparewheel under trunk.

General grabber at3 was my choice of tyre- very quite

my $0.02 worth. Yeah… about the situation “if the air suspension fails”…
I know it has happened to some. But it is very robust and if you keep up your inspections after having fun…
Moreover, you can always keep spare blocks to add to the stop blocks in the event of failure.

I suppose I am less risk adverse then some others.

As I purposely significantly deflate the tires for off road; oversized tires work for me.
Yes, Then pump them up again for the road.
No issues yet…

Unless you want to cut the frame horns, you'll need to keep the tire diameter to about 31.5, 31.6 inches. 255/65/19 will be a bit over 32" . If you don't want to switch to 18" wheels, I'd keep to 255/60/19 to get a little bump in sidewalls.

Yes thank u ur absolutely right about the size that fits.. 255/65r19 did not fit

I went for 255/60r19 general grabber and are super happy the spare wheel even fits under the trunk with 255/60

18" rims I've heard that it doesn't fit at least on the sdv6 because of brake rotors/calipers.. so we are pretty much stuck with 19" on the discovery 4 without serious mods..
Thanks for reply
