280K miles LR4 that I'm considering
My wife is always looking at FB Marketplace Yesterday she finds me a 2011 LR4 with 280,000 miles!
Now the knee-jerk reaction is to run away, but then again. I am thinking that a high mileage LR4 is a well proven LR4, has likley had updated timing parts, has been dealer maintained and some of those miles are highway trips from lower Michigan to the western US, and those trips are a ll mostly high speed low drag highway miles. According to the seller it's been in the family since new and has had oil changes every 5-6 k as it should. It's also the color combo I am looking for. It been to the local-ish dealer for a set of brakes and they are a good dealership.
Down side-the transmission shifts hard when cold and then doesn't like to downshift. From what I have learned from the internt store of LR lore, this sounds like it could use a set of solenoids in the transmission. Guy is still driving it. My LR3 had that problem and I solved it with an oil change, but I'm thinking that must have been done somehere in the past as that wouldbe the first thing I'd try. Well, the other downside is the miles....
I do like my LR3 but was planning to upgrade to LR4 or Disco 5. A US spec LR4 is going to have that lovely 5.0 Jag motor that does have its faults but feels like it would move the world. How many high mileage LR4's are roling around out there and how are they doing?

Mine's done over 190K miles and looks new in and out because that's how I maintain it. BUT even one that's been immaculately preserved, is still old AND well used so the odds in favour of something serious failing are exponentially increasing with each passing mile and day...

Russian roulette. Cld be totally fine but ive owned my lr4 since new and meticulously maintained, nothing spared. From 130k to 180k it has cost me $30k. As long as u have the money and patience, its a great car.
