When navigating my D4/LR4 around complex dirt tracks, its really difficult to find the right paddle to change gear in Command Shift mode. The older 6-speed gear stick was much better for offroad.

it looks like the paddles are just microswitches, so I wondered if I could take a feed off each and fit a small 2-way joy-stick switch on the steering column.

Has anyone done this?
