Default Can't program garage remote to home link mirror

2016 LR4

Greetings-
I can't for the life of me figure this out.
I've held 1 & 3 until blinking to clear memory.
Then pressed a button. It'll blink. Then held garage remote. Nothing. I've held a button and the garage remote. Nothing.

for reference, My remote programmed into my sister in laws new Cadillac with no problem.

Here's a picture of the mirror and remote .

And ideas or suggestions?

I just got the car over the weekend!

well, the fact that they are blinking is good.

But you need to think of it as
1. plant a “seed” by having the mirror remote learn an actual garage door opener code.
2. put the garage door opener in learn mode
3. get back in the vehicle and press the preferred mirror button until the confirmation on the opener.
(I don’t think the owners manual states this clearly enough)

The fact you cleared all previous codes is actually not essential. The learning process overwrites this data anyways.
I do this work while the vehicle is in the garage to expedite my time between getting in the vehicle and climbing the ladder.

When programming my 2013 LR4, I had to go to the garage door opener and press the learn button. I could not get it to work using any of my remotes.

@pettynerd . That is correct. See the process I wrote, above.

So the buttons on the mirror are sending a signal without having mimicked the garage remote? Maybe I don't understand how the process works.

Regardless, I'll give this a try when the weather improves and report.

I did not say that. And that would not work.
The process you must follow is above.

There had to be a seed stored at sometime.

What if I have my sister in law press the button on her mirror which is my learned code in an effort to program my home link mirror button ha ha

On my 15 and on my wife’s 16, it’s as though the mirror won’t accept the signal from the remote. I can’t even get to the learn phase with the opener. During the process of accepting the ‘seed’ from the remote, the mirror light is supposed to go from either a slow blink to a fast blink or from yellow to green. Neither of our LR4’s will do this. I think the instructions say that it’s supposed to happen in 30 seconds. I timed ours for 60 seconds, holding the mirror button and remote button simultaneously and the mirror light eventually just turned off. Never changed in its blink pattern or color. I went ahead and tried the learn button on the garage door opener and the mirror button and it never worked. Any thoughts?

Each mirror button that you wish to use must be seeded first.
It is a waste of time to touch the learn button on the opener until the mirror process is done.

Whenever I work on the vehicle , including this process, I always attach a battery charger. (just like the workshop manual dictates).

The ignition must stay on.

Perhaps the distance between the mirror and remote need be adjusted and there can be no other electrical field interference…. I perform the mirror part down the driveway and unplug the opener at that time.
