Default Carplay in 2013 LR4 HSE LUX

Does anyone have any personal experience with installing one of the following Apple Carplay modules in there LR4?
IDCore
UNavi
Naviks

Any other options that will keep my wife's factory look in her LR4.

I don't want anything that operates with the AUX connection, those sound like garbage. I think the Naviks replaces the factory NAV system, but when I look at the like I see a lot of RCA connectors and a pic of the AUX port so thinking I am wrong about that.

NAViks

I want that "CD like" quality of sound and don't mind losing the unused NAV system.

I installed this one earlier this year. Working quite well. Plug & Play using the NAV system which you will lose. But EVERYTHING else works as normal. I also added a camera up front (happened to have it from another project).

This was the wife's CarPlay from her iPhone using wireless. I use Android and it works as well.

Wow, looks nice. Does your '15 have the same Bosch Radio as the '13? Was it plug and play? Go under the seat or behind the factory radio.

So I followed the way they show it at the GT website ( https://www.gtacarkits.com/product/w...lr4-2012-2016/ ). Took me about half a day, maybe a bit more, but I was also adding in a front camera. Worst part of the job is getting the dash panels out - a lot of the clips tighten up over the years. Just take your time and make sure you have good plastic body part tools. I watched the video several times, and the took it to the car and followed along on my tablet pausing it at each step.

Yes, all P&P. It sits up over the AC ductwork and behind the touchscreen. One thing they didn't do - when routing all the extra cabling with connectors, try to wrap or tape the connectors with something. I didnt and every once in a while on certain roads i get a bit of "chatter" which i believe is one of the connectors hitting the plastics behind where they sit. It doesnt happen often so ive been able to ignore it so far. Wife can never hear when i say - "hey can you tell where that noise is exactly"? She always says "what noise"? LOL.

Other than the obvious cost difference, Why did you not go with the GTAcar kit versus the Amazon one? I see a lot of bad reviews on the Amazon one.

Don't know if it's the same as yours. The one I ordered/as shown at Amazon above is for the Bosch systems. The Amazon site shows how to determine if it fits your specific type. Go to see it on Amazon.

Because of the obvious cost difference! Retired and living on limited income. But i have had zero issues with the unit. Im sure the one at GTA is a good unit.
Oh -- one other thing --

After initial initiation with my Android phone, I was having issues getting it to re-connect after turning the car off. But I had the wife's iPhone and my Android already programmed into the LR4 OEM system, and then added them to the "new" system. So upon vehicle restarts the next day, my Android would not reconnect. But turns out it was a bluetooth issue. The OEM radio Bluetooth was connecting first so the phones Android Auto BT Link wouldnt connect to the new unit. So I deleted both phones from the OEM Radio system programming and haven't ever had a problem reconnecting. Get in, push the start button and then push the OEM Screen Navigation and up comes my phone on the screen. I did buy a newer Android phone (Samsung) since so not sure if it is better at Bluetooth connecting to multiple devices over the older MOTO I had before, but haven't tried to reconnect it to the OEM as the only thing I lost was being able to push the "connect" button on the steering wheel to initiate a call. No loss for me because I can just say - "Hey Google - call home" and it does! Win win.

Might go the Amazon route with your recommendation. How does the audio work. Thru the MOST system or via Bluetooth with the factory radio?

Im not sure of the exact path for all the audio per-se. Some background on the units - I suspect that they are all being made by a few (or just 1 or 2) Chinese companies and simply distributed by various worldwide companies. When I did a similar upgrade to my o3 Hummer, and in-depth review started showing too many exact ports/items when comparing several advertised brands for numerous vehicles. The only difference was the plastic surrounds for different vehicles. Same when looking at the boxes/cabling etc between the GTA and those advertised on AliExpress and elsewhere. So I suspect GTA, ALiEx and others are no more than "distributors" of the same products being sent from China. Amazon being no different other than having the ability to sell cheaper (tho not always).

Now - how? - dunno. First connection is done by Bluetooth but it also connects to the devices WIFI (you will install a WIFI antenna) so I think it uses BT through the unit into the OEM Bosch system for typical phone/txt usage and streams music etc thru the WIFI. But that's just a guess. All I know is it works as well as when I connect my Android unit to my wife's new Cadillac system wirelessly. And every OEM aspect/screen/button & steering wheel buttons still function as normal just as seen in the GTA video.

Last thought - while I do read reviews by others, I dont always put a lot of faith in them. I've bought things "everyone" said was trash only to find a product was satisfactory. Just like the OEM Bosch stero system. I read so many statements about how bad/terrible the "sound" is, bad speakers, etc. How they can't wait to replace the whole thing. It needs HUGE bass speakers added to the rear cargo area. Yada yada. Personally, I'm not in that league of audiophile. I can't turn the original system much past 10-12 or it seems too loud. And the OEM system actually sounds great to me. Go figure. But I'm an old fart so who knows......😄
