Default Considering the Flip

Hello - I am brand new to LR as I’ve been a jeep loyalist for years. I’d like to hear from LR (in particular 2019 +) Discovery owners. Are they worth the flip from Jeep? I’m a gladiator owner presently and looking at the disco. The way they look they don’t look like off roaders, but then again I know their heritage. All opinions welcomed.

You should probably try the Disco 5 forum if you're interested in 2019+, since there was no LR4 in 2019+. In general, I'm a former Jeep guy that has been an LR guy for years now. I like to wheel with amenities, like a quiet cabin, heated seats/steering wheel, A/C that works, etc. I think you'll find that Rovers provide just as good offroad capability (depending on spec) with better on-road manners than almost any Jeep. To be honest, maintenance isn't that much worse than modern Jeeps either. I admit that the old straight 6 and NP231 was a bulletproof combo, but my experience with the newer v6 Jeeps is on par with Rover maintenance.

I'm in a similar situation as you @Saxman230 . I'm currently in a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Hemi that I purchased in May 2022. I was coming from a 2008 LR3 and 2011 LR4, both amazing vehicles and incredibly capable while keeping yourself and others comfortable inside. I haven't enjoyed the Jeep nearly as much as the LR platform and am actually looking to get back into an LR4 or Diesel Discovery V. Similar to @steevo67's note, maintenance isn't much more expensive and LR's are surprisingly easy to work on. Like anything, if you stay up on routine and preventative maintenance these trucks will take you anywhere and can be very reliable without much modification.
