You saw the title - is it crazy to consider this?
Am I just ready to make a purchase after 6 months and losing sanity or is it actually fine so long as it's enthusiast owned? I originally set my parameters to not even consider an LR4 unless this had been done just to be on the safe side, but as I hit the 5 month mark of not quite being able to land a rig I'm starting to ask myself if I should consider a few exceptions for some well loved but not timing chain tensioners replaced rigs.

You mean like not running out of gas?
Joking joking. Oh yeah, I am well aware of the preventative maintenance and need to have a thick wallet or a desire for a hobby. Honestly that's part of why I have had none-timing-chain LR4s off limits but have seen a couple rigs that check a lot of other boxes so sorta just taking the temp on whether anyone actually has pulled the trigger on that setup.
